Gitte Zschoch has been Director of EUNIC, the network of the EU National Institutes for Culture, since 2018, where she is responsible for managing a network of 36 members with 120 representations worldwide. Her work focuses on advocating a prominent role of culture in EU international relations, partnering with the EU in worldwide cultural relations projects as well as further defining European cultural policy. 
Previously, she was the founding director of the Kinshasa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) branch of Germany’s cultural relations organization, the Goethe-Institut, where she conceptualized and delivered country-wide and transnational cultural relations projects. Since 2008, Gitte has worked in different capacities for the Goethe-Institut in Seoul, Tokyo, Johannesburg, and in the Munich main office, where she was Deputy Head of Communications. She formerly worked as an independent cultural manager and writer with a focus on visual arts and literature. She holds a Master’s degree in modern Korean Literature from Seoul National University in Seoul, South Korea, and a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Germany.
